Fireworks And Dried Brush Don’t Mix! It probably goes without saying, but with all the dried brush around the neighborhood, the last thing Carrollton Fire needs to be doing is running around putting out a bunch of fires due to careless fireworks handling. Of course, it’s unsafe as well as illegal to shoot off fireworks - and the current situation only makes things more dangerous. ‘The Carrollton Fire Department reminds citizens that the possession or discharge of fireworks within the City limits of Carrollton or the town of Hebron is prohibited by City ordinance. Any person caught in the possession of, or in the act of discharging, fireworks could face a fine of up to $2,000. Carrollton Fire and Police patrol neighborhoods and investigate illegal discharges and fireworks complaints. All fireworks are illegal. Class C fireworks include most over-the-counter fireworks such as bottle rockets, firecrackers, roman candles, sparklers, spinners, and sparkle fountains.” Bulk Pickup Suspended TFN Question #1: When will it be picked up? Here’s what I’ve heard: Answer: Not until all the storm debris has been collected. So until you see the tree debris picked up, PLEASE DO NOT PLACE BULK TRASH OUT FRONT. IF YOU HAVE ALLOWED IT TO REMAIN OUT FRONT, PLEASE MOVE IT TO THE SIDE OR BACK. YOUR NEIGHBORS WILL APPRECIATE IT. Question #2: Why have the collection trucks bypassed my house? Answer: The large collection trucks used by Gulf Services are the size of regular semis. If they cannot manage the turn or make it safely down the street, they will just move on. When the city advises you to keep your street clear of vehicles during the hours of 7am - 7pm, this is why. Other Notes From The City: • Some trucks prioritize smaller piles due to equipment limitations and trucks might become full, needing to offload before returning. It may take multiple days and several passes through one neighborhood to get to every house, but if debris is set out on the curb and not obstructed by any bulk waste, utility meters, or vehicles, it will be collected. • Collection teams are working very hard (Mon.-Sun. 7 a.m.-7 p.m.) to survey and remove storm debris throughout the community. Residents are encouraged to give the collection crews a friendly Carrolltonian hello if they see a crew member on their street. We discussed a lot of topics and many great ideas were provided by our members. Probably the most anticipated item was the question of Membership. After many months of study by legal counsel and our bylaws committee, we can finally provide a definitive statement regarding membership. “Woodgate Neighbor Association membership, while vital to providing safety, security, and property value integrity, is not mandatory. At the same time, the CC&R that apply to all 277 residences within the Woodgate Subdivision are mandatory.” It’s important that every resident understand that even though membership in the Association is not required - sometimes referred to as “voluntary” - adherence to the Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions are part of everyone’s deed and are not “voluntary” and following the rules is not “optional”.
