Get to know Gary...
My Name is Gary Gunter, and I’m running for WNA 1st Vice President. My wife, Patti, and I have lived at 2828 Cambridgeshire since 2020. We previously lived near Kelly and George Bush in Carrollton for close to 20 years.
Background
I have worked in the service industry for most of my career, currently managing a small retail store in Richardson. The majority was spent in the parking industry as senior manager for Parking Company of America. I wore many hats for PCA, HR Director, Director of Operations, Event Coordinator. As Director of Operations, I oversaw the valet and parking operations for many different businesses in and around DFW as well as Austin, Houston, El Paso, and Tulsa. We worked with a broad range of businesses including The Ritz Carlton Dallas, The Crescent Court Hotel, The Virgin Hotel, The Dallas Cowboys, The State Fair of Texas, SMU, UTA and UNT.
I currently serve on the Architectural committee, have previously served on the Bylaws committee and have attended and helped at many of the social events held in Woodgate and with the Beautification and Maintenance committee (IE – planting flowers and pulling weeds at the entrances)
Key Points
-
Safety and Security Hold crime watch meetings with the police dept public affairs division and work with the block captains to keep an eye out for each other.
-
Short Term Rentals Monitor and support the City of Carrollton’s efforts to curtail the spread of STR’s in Woodgate, The Shires and all of Carrollton.
-
Neighborhood Engagement Continue to hold events to help bring together the Woodgate neighborhood as well as our adjoining neighbors.
-
Fiduciary Responsibility Be mindful of spending the funds available to the board in a manner that not only protects the neighborhood by supporting the Architectural committee but also benefits the members of WNA.
Why I’m Running
I believe it takes the greater community to uphold the safety and security of the neighborhood. Engaging with the Block Captains, hosting Crime Watch meetings, and various neighborhood events, not only in Woodgate, but in the surrounding neighborhoods, enhances the ability of all our neighbors in keeping an eye out for each other.
Thank you for considering me for a board position.
