We’re reaching out to follow up on our message from last week regarding a fellow resident, Mr. Waters, initiative to petition the city for new traffic measures. Since the city is already willing to conduct a safety review without one, we believe it is best to save our collective neighborhood voice for a time when it is truly necessary to demand action.

Hello, Woodgate Neighbors! We've received several questions from Woodgate residents about the WNA Board's position on a recent proposal for the City of Carrollton sent out from Dave Waters regarding Woodgate traffic and street parking.

All of us are the eyes and ears to help direct the city when a property needs their attention. If you notice an issue involving property maintenance, an issue involving an absentee-owned home, neighborhood safety concerns, rental activity, street parking issues, tall grass/weeds, or something else that may violate City Code, you can submit a complaint or send an email to the Architecture Committee and make them aware.

In August alone, the Architecture Committee submitted 27 Code Enforcement complaints to the City of Carrollton involving fences in disrepair, high grass and weeds, trash, and a junked vehicle. We’re happy to report that good progress has already been made in resolving some of these issues.

Since it was a topic brought up at our August Virtual Town Hall Meeting, we thought it might be helpful to share a quick reminder about the City of Carrollton’s street parking rules and, just as importantly, who to contact when there’s a concern.

We continue to have questions about our sidewalks and how to get them repaired. The good news is the City of Carrollton has a great program to help homeowners get their sidewalks fixed without taking on the full replacement cost!

An early morning house fire caused significant damage to a Woodgate home Tuesday morning, August 25. Carrollton Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 1203 Mackie Drive at approximately 1:00AM.

The Carrollton City Council continues to take a proactive approach to banning new STRs. They recently approved the extension of a contract with a STR software company.

If you’re out for an early morning walk in Woodgate, there’s a good chance you’ve already met Cheryl Watkins (or at least her enthusiastic three-year-old Australian Shepherd, Boomer). Since moving to 1037 Clinton Street in 1986, Al and Cheryl have become familiar faces in the neighborhood and have spent four decades making Woodgate feel like home.
