Hello, Woodgate! I am providing us an update on the successful Red, White & Wheels event, our upcoming Virtual Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, August 18, and the Board’s continued efforts to monitor local and state government matters that could affect Woodgate residents.

The Carrollton City Council continues to take a proactive approach to banning new STRs. They recently approved the extension of a contract with a STR software company.

If you’re out for an early morning walk in Woodgate, there’s a good chance you’ve already met Cheryl Watkins (or at least her enthusiastic three-year-old Australian Shepherd, Boomer). Since moving to 1037 Clinton Street in 1986, Al and Cheryl have become familiar faces in the neighborhood and have spent four decades making Woodgate feel like home.

We wanted to pass along some information that was shared with us about an incident that occurred on Clinton this past Thursday.

We recently spoke to the senior engineer at the City of Carrollton and have an update on the major construction projects that are currently planned for Frankford Road and Hebron Parkway to upgrade the quality of those roads. Median landscaping will be enhanced at the same time. They will be removing and then replacing the current concrete in all lanes and medians, while keeping their current configuration of lanes and medians once the project is completed.

If you've seen a little one cruising around Magnolia Drive on a balance bike, you've probably met the Paty-Lawns family. Haley and Anthony, along with their son George, are proud to call Woodgate home.

With America’s 250th in full swing this year, it’s a meaningful time to show your patriotic spirit while supporting local youth right here in our community. Just take part in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary Club "Flags Over Carrollton" program, and a 3x5-foot American flag will be placed in your yard on seven patriotic holidays throughout the year.

Because last month’s update was packed with information, I wanted to focus this month on a couple of key items and address a question a few of you have asked.

We wanted to make you aware of a recent hit-and-run incident on the 2900 block of Redwood Drive. A minivan parked along the street was sideswiped sometime overnight between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. The incident was reported to Carrollton Police, but at this time there are no known leads or suspects. Thankfully, no one was hurt!

I Believe our Greatest Attribute is the Cohesiveness of our Neighborhood. The intent is to be practical and reasonable while also preserving the common expectations tied to our deed restrictions. Continued progress depends on our shared understanding across the neighborhood.

April was one of those months where a lot happened all at once, and there’s more going on behind the scenes than you might think! From neighborhood improvements you’ve probably already noticed, to our Town Hall, upcoming events, and an important potential zoning issue that could directly impact Woodgate.
