WNA Update: Reviewing a Street Parking Proposal

Hello, Woodgate Neighbors! We've received several questions from Woodgate residents about the WNA Board's position on a recent proposal for the City of Carrollton sent out from Dave Waters regarding Woodgate traffic and street parking.

On September 15, Architectural Chairman Steve Sainton, two other Woodgate residents and I met with Dave, who is spearheading the street parking proposal, to discuss the matter. During the meeting, we reviewed several aspects of the proposal and raised a number of important questions.

While I considered the meeting worthwhile, the Board agrees it is important to better understand some aspects of the proposal and further explore a few concerns that have been brought up.

For example, the current proposal as Dave presents it could result in three dozen or more "No Parking" signs in our neighborhood or dozens of painted curbs (maybe red) to indicate "no parking" on sections of our streets. Questions such as:

• Will those proposed measures truly help the city enforce current laws and ordinances?

• Will residents want those signs or painted curbs in front of their homes?

• Does the City of Carrollton have the additional funds to pay for these new signs?

• Would there be increased and consistent patrols for enforcement not just in Woodgate, but throughout all neighborhoods?

We plan to gather more information and speak to residents regarding how these proposals would affect our neighborhood. Once that work is done, the Board, with input from the Architectural Committee, will share the information with you so we all can make an informed decision on what is best for Woodgate overall.
