Email

We’ve had a several neighbors ask us how to stop receiving emails they’d rather not get anymore, especially when there isn't an unsubscribe link. If you’ve ever run into this, there’s an easy fix! Most email services, including Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo Mail, and Apple Mail, let you block an email address without an unsubscribe in just a few clicks:

Microsoft Outlook and Outlook.com For Outlook.com, Microsoft 365, and New Outlook:

  1. Open Outlook and click the Settings gear icon.

  2. Select Mail > Junk email.

  3. Find the Blocked senders section.

  4. Enter the email address you want to block.

  5. Click Add, then Save.

For Classic Outlook on Windows, right-click an email from the person and select Block > Block Sender. What happens: Future messages are automatically moved to your Junk Email folder.

Gmail

  1. Open your Gmail on a web browser.

  2. Select and Open an email from the sender you want to block.

  3. Click the three vertical dots next to the Reply button.

  4. Select Block followed by the sender's name.

  5. Confirm if prompted.

What happens: Future messages go directly to your Spam folder. You can review or unblock addresses under Settings > See all settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses.

Yahoo Mail

  1. Open your Yahoo Mail In a web browser.

  2. Click Settings, then More Settings, if you're using the older desktop interface.

  3. Select Security and Privacy.

  4. Find Blocked addresses and click Add.

  5. Enter the email address and click Save.

The newer Yahoo Mail interface also provides blocked-address controls under Settings > Security and Privacy.

Apple Mail and iCloud Mail

On an iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open the Mail app.

  2. Open an email from the sender.

  3. Tap their name at the top of the message.

  4. Select Block this Contact.

  5. Confirm the block.

On a Mac:

  1. Open Apple Mail.

  2. Select a message from the sender.

  3. Click the arrow beside their name.

  4. Select Block Sender.

  5. Under Mail > Settings > Junk Mail > Blocked, you can configure blocked messages to go directly to Trash.

For iCloud Mail, you can also create a rule at iCloud.com to automatically move emails from a specific address into a chosen folder.
