Get to know Patty...
My name is Patty Wilson, and I am running for treasurer of the Woodgate Neighbors Association. Jim and I have lived on Redwood since May of 1983. At the time we chose Woodgate to build a house in, there were only two model homes on Clinton at the entrance plus two homes that had just begun to be built. We chose it because it seemed like it would be a beautiful, quiet place to live in. As houses were built and people moved in, our hunch turned out to be right. At the time Woodgate was one of the premiere subdivisions in Carrollton.
BACKGROUND
I am originally from a western suburb of Chicago. We moved to Dallas in 1982. Over that time I have worked as the accounting supervisor for a CPA firm in downtown Dallas for 20 years and as a staff accountant for an an aerospace firm at Addison Airport for over 20 years. I have been chairman of the WNA budget committee for the last two years and put together the 2024 and the 2025 budgets, so I am familiar with the expenses and financial needs of the Association.
WHAT I CARE ABOUT
Since I have lived in Woodgate over 40 years, I have seen big changes in the community. For the first 30 years or so we were a safe, beautiful community. All we had to worry about was when our next social event was going to be and which cul-de-sac was it going to take place in. But in the last few years we have begun to see short term rentals that have brought the police here several times, houses that have several city violations filed against them and even abandoned homes that have caused neighbor's property values to decline. And most recently a house break in robbery. These things cannot stand. We must not ignore them and must continue to fight against them. I want Woodgate to be a desirable place to live and one in which residents take pride in their neighborhood.
