A Neighborly Reminder After a Recent Sideswipe on Redwood Drive

Van

We wanted to make you aware of a recent hit-and-run incident on the 2900 block of Redwood Drive. A minivan parked along the street was sideswiped sometime overnight between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. The incident was reported to Carrollton Police, but at this time there are no known leads or suspects. Thankfully, no one was hurt!

As you can imagine, this has been very frustrating for the homeowner.

This does bring up something for us to consider. As with many subdivisions, parking on the street is just a daily occurrence. There are plenty of reasons why someone may need to park in front of their home, including full garages, limited driveway space, or just simple convenience.

At the same time, it’s a good reminder that many home in Woodgate are designed with rear-entry garages and driveways for a reason. When we’re able to use them, especially overnight, it helps keep our vehicles more protected, keeps our streets easier to navigate and lets the front of our homes and landscaping shine.

A few simple things to keep in mind:

• Park in your driveway or garage whenever possible

• Lock your vehicles and keep valuables out of sight

• If you do park on the street, do not park directly across from someone else parked on the same street (creating a very narrow space to try and navigate)

• If you have security cameras, check them to see if something happens nearby

• Report vehicle damage or suspicious activity to Carrollton Police

This was definitely an unfortunate situation for one of our neighbors on Redwood, but it’s also a good reminder for all of us to stay aware, look out for each other, and keep Woodgate a safe, welcoming, and beautiful place to live.
