As everyone can tell, the Texas heat is upon us, which means summer is officially here!
Woodgate has always shown its patriotic side with the many American Flags you see around the neighborhood. Some might wonder where all the flags by the curb come from? These flags are provided through the Flags Over Carrollton Program through Rotary International. The proceeds of this service project benefit Scouts, local nonprofit organizations, along with Rotary scholarships and youth programs in Carrollton and Farmers Branch. Please take a minute to check it out. Many homeowners already participate in this program, and I would encourage everyone to join.
New Neighbors! I'd also like to welcome our newest neighbors to Woodgate: James and Telea Jackson at 2900 Cambridgeshire and Kristina and Alberto Mendez at 1205 Mackie. Welcome to the neighborhood!
Sweet Success!
I want to thank everyone who came to our Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 22nd in the Lower Magnolia Cul-de-sac. We had a really great turnout with 65 neighbors showing up; plus all the kids (young and old) really enjoyed the variety of ice cream! Please encourage and invite all your neighbors to come to future events. These meet ups have been great; not only for the socializing aspect, but for getting to meet so many new neighbors you may not see on a regular basis. As always, we're always looking for fresh ideas on future events, so please let us know if you have one! Yard of the Month
Congratulations to Deb Moss who lives at 1023 Magnolia on being selected as our July Yard of the Month! Picking one continues to be a challenge because there are so many great lawns in Woodgate. Everyone keep up the great work in making Woodgate look beautiful!
Woodgate Entrance Maintenance
I want to follow up on a previous discussion topic, the maintenance of two entrances of Woodgate. The WNA Board has secured services of Triple-M Lawn Services to maintain both the entrances at Birch and Clinton. The maintenance is going to be performed twice a month. Triple-M will keep the beds weeded, edged, and plant new plants when necessary. As an added bonus, the cost of their services is actually $40 less than what had been budgeted for lawn care each month. We always love when we save our association money!
The New Woodgate Directory
I'd like to update everyone on the process of the new WNA Neighborhood Directory.
The finalized list of neighbors who opted-in to share their contact information is in the process of being compiled - but with such a popular demand, we're extending the deadline to let more neighbors add their information until July 31. So be sure to add your information before that date. Additionally, Brian Penrod has been working with neighbors and talking with local businesses who are interested in sponsoring our directory. This will help us offset some of the printing cost and will enable us to have a spiral bound directory to be produced at minimal cost. If you may know a local business that may want to sponsor our directory, let us know!
WNA Meeting Update
The quarterly meeting of the WNA Board will be held first week of July, and we'll be discussing a general meeting for all neighbors to be scheduled in August. I'll keep you posted and relay the official time and date, once we have it confirmed.
As always, if you have any questions or would like to help in any aspect of WNA, please let me know. I hope everyone has a great July!
Thank you,
Sean
