What is a Block Captain?

We've had some questions pop-up from a few neighbors wanting to know what a Block Captain does within Woodgate. Essentially, Block Captains are just friendly neighbors who volunteer to help keep Woodgate connected around the street they live on.
They’re neighbors who act as a go-between for homeowners and the WNA, so information doesn’t get lost and people know what’s going on.
In practice, a Block Captain can help welcome new residents who just moved in, pass along neighborhood updates, explain how to connect with us online and subscribe to our newsletter, and share reminders when something important is coming up.
They’re also someone neighbors can reach out to with any questions or concerns in the neighborhood, which they then relay to the Board if needed. From time to time, they might help distribute newsletters, door hangers, collect ballots, etc.
Block Captains don’t enforce any rules or make board decisions. They’re simply friendly neighbors helping neighbors stay informed and connected within Woodgate, which makes the whole neighborhood a better place to live.
Block Captain Meeting on Tuesday, March 3
Our WNA Vice President, Gary Gunter, is having a get-together at his home on Tuesday, March 3. If you’re already a Block Captain or have ever thought about getting involved, its a chance to connect with other neighbors, talk through what the Block Captain role looks like, and share ideas on how we can keep Woodgate informed and connected.
