Clearing Up False Information and Accusations

We appreciate the opportunity to communicate openly with all of you because transparency and trust are priorities for the WNA Board. Yesterday, Dave Waters (a former WNA President who resigned from his position early) shared a post on his personal Woodgate FB Group and his personal newsletter about the WNA Board. His false and misleading statements have caused confusion among neighbors, and since many of you have reached out to us about this, we feel it’s important to respond directly and openly. Our goal isn’t to argue, but to make sure everyone has the facts.

Dave continues to mix a little truth with a lot of spin and outright fabrications so it feels credible to people who aren’t as close to the details. Let’s break down his recent accusations piece by piece:

I've received numerous emails from the "official" WNA spokesman advising me that any meetings not arranged and approved by WNA should not happen - especially since WNA recently had a town hall meeting.” and "The WNA spokesman went on to talk about how "side-meetings and separate agendas feel like they create more division than actual solutions."

False. The Board, or its representatives, have never said neighbors cannot meet. The only emails sent to Dave were to directly ask questions that would provide clarity on what his "vital" meeting was for and what it was to accomplish. That is not forbidding meetings. The WNA would never tell neighbors they shouldn't meet. We only asked Dave over the past weekend for clarification to alleviate confusion and to get answers to questions we were being asked. He chose not to answer them.

"This is the board that took the Woodgate Christmas party COMPLETELY OUT OF WOODGATE - with no notice or prior approval from members.

Misleading. The previous Board made that decision. The current Board has explained the reasoning multiple times in meetings, website, social post, etc., yet Dave keeps bringing this up like we've never provided explanations. We also recently addressed this at our Town Hall Meeting and asked for input by a show of hands how we'd like to handle this year's holiday event. There was strong interest in having it at the park again, but we decided to hold off and address it again at our upcoming October 18th meeting.

This is the board that professes transparency yet rarely produces information - often dubious - and only when shamed into doing so. And usually, even shaming doesn’t produce timely results.

False. The Board consistently posts updates online, meeting minutes, recaps, monthly newsletters, and financial updates. If you want to know something...ask us! As mentioned in our Town Hall Meeting, any answers to information or questions pertaining to Woodgate can be found on our website. There's nothing to hide.

This is the board that claims THEIR opinion is the only one that counts, and homeowners are marginalized and ignored."

False & Misleading. The Board has never claimed its opinion is the only one that matters. We're confused by this and not even sure what this means. No one is being marginalized or ignored.

This is the board that is publicly upset when homeowners openly socialize and discuss ways to improve their neighborhood.

False. The Board doesn't get upset or oppose neighbors openly socializing or meeting to discuss the neighborhood. The only action taken was asking Dave directly (multiple times) for clarification on what was billed as a "vital" meeting and what it was set to accomplish. It was always intended to avoid confusion and seek answers for questions being asked to the Board.

We're disappointed in the continued confusion being caused by Dave through his private channels. It's unfortunate that we have to keep defending ourselves from his false and misleading accusations. The WNA Board has always been committed to open and transparent communication (which is why we're posting this), and we want every neighbor to feel informed about what is happening in our neighborhood.

Just a reminder, the WNA Board and Committees are made up entirely of your neighbors who volunteer their time to support Woodgate. Like everyone, we have jobs, families, and commitments outside of the neighborhood. Our shared goal has always been very simple: building a connected, safe, secure and welcoming community for all Woodgate residents.

If you ever have questions, concerns, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly. We’re always happy to listen and ensure that every neighbor’s voice is heard.
