Could Your Sidewalk Use a Makeover?

If you have taken a walk around Woodgate lately, we're sure you've noticed that some of our sidewalks could use a little love! Did you know the City of Carrollton has a great program to help homeowners get their sidewalks fixed without taking on the full replacement cost?

Sidewalk Repair

It is called the 90/10 Sidewalk Replacement Grant Program. The City of Carrollton will pay for 90 percent of the cost to remove and replace certain sidewalk sections, while you (the homeowner) covers the remaining 10 percent. It is a simple way to make our neighborhood safer and more beautiful while keeping the overall costs low.

Here is what qualifies:

  • Sidewalks in single-family neighborhoods like ours.

  • Panels that run along the street.

  • One standard-width section connecting to the street.

  • One panel that leads from the public sidewalk toward your walkway.

Here is what is not covered:

  • Your personal walkway from the public sidewalk to your front door.

  • Irrigation repairs, landscaping, or soil leveling not caused directly by the sidewalk replacement.

How do you get started? Once your application is approved, you pay your 10 percent share up front and sign an agreement with the City of Carrollton. The total cost will depend on the contract price at the time.

This is a chance for all of us to help keep Woodgate a great place to walk, whether you're walking your pups, jogging in the morning or heading out for an evening stroll. If the sidewalk outside your home could use replacement, take a look the program details on the City of Carrollton’s website and see if you qualify.
