Meet Your Neighbors: Brian Penrod & Robert Becker

Say hello to Brian Penrod and Robert Becker of 1202 Mackie Drive, two friendly faces (often seen walking their pups) who’ve called Woodgate home since September 2020. They moved in during the height of the pandemic and quickly fell in love with the neighborhood’s established charm, pride of ownership, and welcoming neighbors.

Brian, originally from St. Louis, moved to Texas to attend Texas State University (originally known as Southwest Texas State) in 1994. Robert, born in Miami and raised near Nashville, moved to Texas the same year for work. They started dating in 2005, tied the knot in 2012, and have been traveling through life (and the skies) together ever since.

Professionally, Brian works full time as the Vice President of Marketing for Gloria’s Latin Cuisine and also runs his own side hustle, Penrod Digital, where he helps small businesses with digital marketing. He also puts his creative talents to work for the Woodgate Neighborhood Association, volunteering his time managing the website, emails and any graphic design needs.

Robert has been with American Airlines for over 30 years! He currently works as a Flight Dispatcher, a role that’s essential to flight planning, safety and real-time operational decisions. His deep knowledge of aviation, coupled with a pilot’s license of his own, has fueled his lifelong love of flight. It’s a passion Brian shares as well (even if he’s still working on getting those pilot wings!).

They’re both proud dog dads to Gabbie, a spirited 13- year old Boston Terrier, and Zoe, a lovable and mischievous 7-year old mixed breed rescue. In their downtime, they love dining out and trying new restaurants. Table 13 in Addison is a top pick for the overall Rat Pack-era vibe, live music, stellar craft cocktails, and perfectly cooked steaks. Both Brian and Robert are also sci-fi lovers, though Brian proudly wears the crown as the bigger nerd. They’re big fans of Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, and pretty much anything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

True globetrotters at heart, Brian and Robert are always planning their next trip. They recently returned from exploring Croatia, and they’re already counting down to two Viking Cruises they have lined up in 2026! Beach getaways are also a favorite, but any new destination with a runway and adventure waiting is fair game.

The next time you see Brian and Robert out and about, say hi! They’re always up for a good chat, travel tips, or a lively debate over which captain is the best (spoiler alert: it’s most likely Janeway or Picard).
