It's that time of year to start thinking about your landscaping and planting flowers in your flower beds. Here are a few Spring planting tips to keep in mind here in North Texas:

  1. Plant after the last frost date, which is typically around March 15 on average in North Texas.

  2. Choose plants that are well-suited to the North Texas climate, such as those that are drought-tolerant and heat-resistant.

  3. Make sure to amend the soil with organic matter such as compost or manure before planting.

  4. Use mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth.

  5. Water your plants deeply and regularly, especially during hot and dry weather.

  6. Be mindful of the pests and diseases that are common in North Texas and take steps to protect your plants accordingly.

  7. Consider using raised beds, which can help improve drainage and make it easier to control the soil conditions.

  8. Make sure to choose plants that are recommended for your area, and stay away from invasive varieties.
