Carrollton Continues Crackdown on New Short-Term Rentals

The Carrollton City Council continues to take a proactive approach to banning new STRs. 

They recently approved the extension of a contract with a STR software company. The software, in place since 2023, "...actively monitors for and identifies new STR listings on various booking websites, providing live updates to staff. These listings can then begin as code enforcement cases, given the ban the City of Carrollton enacted on new STRs after the most recent ordinance was passed on December 2, 2025."

"The software provides the critical monitoring that would otherwise be impossible to monitor to the level needed to enforce the licensing requirements and prohibition on new STRs. For the approved STRs that were in lawful operation prior to the prospective ban, the software handles the licensing renewals, document retention, permit fee payment, and hotel occupancy tax payment as well."

Woodgate residents can continue to do their part by reporting any possible signs of a STR violations such as unusual activity, different people or vehicles, etc. to the City of Carrollton.
