Hello, Woodgate! I’m Susan Michell, Your New Government Relations Liaison

Susan Michell, Government Relations

Some of you may already know me, but for those I haven’t met yet, I’ve been lucky enough to call Woodgate home for the past 30 years. My two kids, Nick and Tess, grew up right here, and I can honestly say this neighborhood has been a wonderful place to raise a family!

I retired back in 2024 after a 42-year career as a marketing research executive. Since then, I’ve enjoyed putting more time into volunteer work.

Last year, I stepped in to fill the Treasurer vacancy on the WNA board from June through December. Now I’m excited to serve as our new Government Relations Liaison. My role is to help keep our neighborhood informed about what’s happening at the city level and how it may impact us, plus be able to advocate on our behalf and voice concerns we may have to the City of Carrollton.

For my first update, I want to start by sharing a quick and reassuring update from the City of Carrollton. At the most recent City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, our Chief of Police presented updated crime trends, and the news was definitely encouraging! Overall calls for service are down from 2022 through 2025. Specifically:

  • Total crime is down 41%

  • Property crime is down 34%

  • Violent crime is down 44%

And even closer to home, there continues to be no crimes reported in Woodgate during the month of January.

I’ll be sure to continue sharing any relevant city updates and help translate what they mean for our neighborhood. And remember, if you have any questions or concerns you'd like WNA to address with the City, please let us know.

Thank you,

Susan
