March President's Update

Writer: Sean BruceSean Bruce

And just like that, March is here!

As the cold winter weather came and went in February, it made way for spring storms and wind to come through Woodgate once again this week. Although power was restored quickly, there was damage to properties in the neighborhood. Mostly yard and tree debris, but there was some fence and home damage as well. Check out our News & Updates section of our website to view the storm damage photos provided by Ellen McLoughlin and Brian Penrod.

If you haven’t already joined, please check out our Official Woodgate Facebook Group. We are getting great feedback and seeing more involvement with neighborhood updates. It’s also a good message board to find reputable companies used by other residents for storm damage repair.

There was some really good news concerning STR’s in Carrollton. The application for STR Special Permit in Cambridge Estates was DENIED! It came across as I was finalizing this message (you can read more about in our monthly newsletter), and I know there is one thing we can all agree on: STR’s don’t have a place in Woodgate or our surrounding neighborhoods.

Previously, I mentioned that there was a neighborhood survey put on the website for all residents to participate. Not only to have your opinion heard, but send ideas for future functions, say what you do like about WNA, and areas you feel need more attention. We've had great turnout with a total of 77 surveys completed and returned. In April, we'll provide a summary of the survey findings and publish them on our website.

Before closing, I want to briefly address comments that had been posted multiple times online, concerning this year’s WNA Board and hopefully put it to rest. A concerned member has continually questioned the trust, transparency, and honesty of the Board. I want to simply state that NOTHING has changed since the previous leadership, and NOTHING is being hidden from WNA Membership. If you have any concerns about this, you can contact me directly at president@woodgateneighbors.com.

We're all volunteers, elected to these positions for the betterment of the residents of Woodgate. I'm writing this to hopefully end the constant divisiveness and questioning of any of our intentions. I truly believe everyone who reads this wants nothing but the best for ALL Woodgate residents. As do I.

I hope everyone has a great March and look forward to sending out more information or upcoming event ideas in April’s message.

Sincerely,

Sean Bruce
